It is a smaller painting, but I was concerned with getting it right. Some of the alterations I made from the reference photos to help the painting were:
Darkening the background to make the Heron stand out.
Reducing the detail in the legs to create the illusion of weightlessness and flight.
And using the strokes of the grass to help with the upward movement of the bird.

I've always loved this peice, but oddly it has never received any attention from the public.

I think you succeeded wonderfully :D and I'm sure people will begin to notice it more, its too beautiful for them not too!

Beautiful, the green background contrasts really well with the heron :)
And they are beautiful birds :)
